Hearonymus audio guide - foundation and development

Hearonymus audio guide founder Peter Grundmann

Hearonymus was founded in 2012 by Peter Grundmann in Vienna.

The goal was to create a simple and affordable way for businesses in culture and tourism to gain all the benefits of audio guides on smartphones. With the possibility of having the entire content produced externally. The Hearonymus standard audio guide for smartphones was born. In many countries, visitors look forward to now enjoy the same look and feel of the guides in numerous places wherever they are.

Another goal was to make the content of audio guides available to the general public outside of opening hours. Download a guide to your smartphone at home, listen, become curious, go there. In this way audio guides promote your offering.

The idea of a platform for audio guides for smartphones has sparked great interest in the culture and tourism industries right from the start. The numbers from the foundation to the present day show that the concept is well received:

791

162457

Services

Hearonymus has developed a building block system for every need. The system consists of a basic guide and numerous additional options. Hearonymus can create the entire guide with all content for you. This is the easiest way to get an audio guide.

However, you are also welcome to provide individual modules yourself. We can work with your texts and translations. If you already have finished audio files, we take them over and create the audio guide from them. You only pay for the building blocks you need. Without any running costs.

A number of additional options are available to supplement and expand the basic guide. These include various options in the areas of “Sound”, “Image”, “Video” or “Accessibility”.

Basic building blocks

Module 1: Translation

This module includes the translation into all desired languages. If you already have a finished text, this module is omitted and we will work with your text.

Module 2: Professional speaker

Hearonymus works exclusively with professional native speakers. You will receive several voice samples by email and can choose your preferred voice or voices.

Module 3: Recording studio

Hearonymus produces all audio recordings in a professional recording studio with a trained sound engineer. This enables us to guarantee high-quality studio recordings of a consistent quality.

Module 4: Create a guide

In this step, the finished audio guide is produced from the audio files, images, texts, …. The ingredients all come together. This building block is the only one that Hearonymus has to carry out for you.

With all rights

You will receive the voice recordings Hearonymus produces with all their rights. You can use the audio files in other places (homepage, …) without incurring any additional costs.

Additional options

Sound design

We are happy to add music to your audio guide, incorporate noises or incorporate other sound effects (incorporate noises or other sound effects). This will make the guide more lively and interesting.

Image options

For the comparison of a historical view with a current one, the picture comparison with slide control is a useful feature (“Augmented reality +”). If one picture per chapter isn´t enough, there is the option of automatic picture changes.

Additional options of Hearonymus audio guide

Triggering the chapters

QR codes, NFC tags or GPS triggering are available as possible alternatives to the classic number entry of the individual chapters.

Download numbers+

In addition to the free quarterly evaluations of downloads by month, there is the option of receiving daily downloads. Separated download numbers by language and by guides.

Accessibility options

Hearonymus offers the creation of guides with sign language, simple language, easy language or object descriptions for the visually impaired

Maps with GPS

The integration of a map, with or without a route, is particularly recommended for tours. You can see your own position and all chapters of the guide can be called up directly.

Videos

Historical videos, commercials, company videos … we are happy to convert your existing videos and integrate them into the audio guide.

Quiet audio output

With this additional function, guests and visitors must hold their phone directly to their ear or use headphones. This ensures that others are not disturbed.

Arts and culture

Hearonymus is the ideal solution for museums, exhibitions and galleries. The Hearonymus audio guide is equally suitable for permanent exhibitions and special exhibitions. Hearonymus is also an inexpensive option for an audio guide for small museums.

Advantages

familiar number entry possible
no issuing, collecting and maintenance of audio guide equipment
QR codes or NFC tags instead of numbers possible
quiet audio output possible for inconvenience-free operation

The purchase of devices is completely eliminated because visitors use their own smartphones. If anything, a hotspot in the entrance area is enough.
