With the audio guide ‘In the footsteps of green and white Vienna – the historic Rapid city walk’, listeners can explore the most important places in the club’s history in a new way.
SK Rapid Wien, one of Austria’s most traditional football teams, is now offering its fans and anyone interested a new way to immerse themselves in the club’s fascinating history.
A walk through the history of Rapid
The audio guide leads to 42 historical points in 15 Viennese districts. These places are not only important for the club’s history, but also for the city of Vienna itself. SK Rapid was founded in 1897 as the first Viennese workers’ football club by employees of the Böhm hat factory. Since then, the club has left green and white traces all over the city – from old secretariats and match venues to coffee houses, restaurants and flats of former Rapid legends such as Hans Krankl. Some of these places no longer exist or no longer wear recognisable colours, while others are still of great importance to the club and its fans.
As the historical sites are spread all over Vienna, the audio guide is designed in such a way that the stations can be covered in several sections. The rapideum.at website provides suggested routes to help listeners visit the various sites systematically and conveniently. The audio guide is therefore not only an exciting journey through the history of the organisation, but also a great way to explore Vienna.
An interactive experience
Accompanied by exciting stories and anecdotes, listeners learn about the significance of the individual locations for the club and the events that took place there. The audio guide and the accompanying travel guide, which can be purchased in the Rapid fan shop, bring these historic sites back to life. Whether you are a die-hard Rapid fan or simply interested in the history of Vienna – this city walk offers something for everyone.
