The Hofburg in Vienna, one of Austria’s most internationally renowned buildings and landmarks, can now be explored free of charge with Hearonymus.
The audio guide ‘The Vienna Hofburg – A Fascinating City Within a City’, produced by Burghauptmannschaft Österreich, comprises 22 chapters and invites visitors to discover the Hofburg’s grounds – covering more than 300,000 m² – at their own pace, whilst learning interesting details about the building’s history and its various uses.
A city within a city – the Vienna Hofburg
For more than 700 years, the Hofburg was the residence of the Austrian sovereigns. From the mid-13th century until the end of the monarchy in 1918, the emperors and empresses of the House of Habsburg ruled the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation from here. Having undergone constant change over the centuries, the building complex now comprises 18 wings, 19 courtyards, 54 staircases and 2,600 rooms. The Hofburg is the seat of the Austrian Federal President, the Austrian National Library, the Spanish Riding School, and numerous museums such as the Imperial Treasury, the Sisi Museum, the Weltmuseum and many more.
Federal Minister Schramböck recommends the Hearonymus audio guide
Federal Minister Margarete Schramböck, of the Federal Ministry for Digitalisation and Business Location, also expressed her enthusiasm at the launch of the exciting Hearonymus audio guide: “The new audio guide is a simple digital solution that enables visitors to experience the Hofburg complex in its entirety. This also presents the Republic’s architectural heritage to both domestic and international guests in a new light. Particularly in the current challenging situation, it is important to set an example and promote Austria as a centre for culture, tourism and business. […] I have already tried out the informative audio guide and would like to warmly invite everyone to take this walk and get to know the Hofburg better.”
Vienna’s Hofburg also in Tokyo, New York and Paris
As a prestigious landmark, Vienna’s Hofburg is, of course, known far beyond Austria’s borders and helps to attract a broad international audience to Austria as a destination for tourism and business. A fine achievement, as Peter Grundmann, founder and managing director of Hearonymus, also notes: “In normal times, the Hofburg complex attracts around 25 million visitors from all over the world. As Hearonymus can be downloaded in Tokyo, St Petersburg and New York to help with travel planning and promotion, it is the perfect solution for culture and tourism.”
